Geomatics Summer Student - Calgary, Alberta

Millennium Geomatics is seeking a motivated Geomatics Summer Student to join our field team for the upcoming summer season. This is a great opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience in land surveying and geomatics while working alongside experienced professionals in the field.

This position is based out of Calgary and will primarily involve working outdoors as part of a survey crew supporting a variety of geomatics and surveying projects. This is a paid summer position from May to August 2026.

What You'll Do:

 

As a Geomatics Summer Student, you will work under the direction of a Survey Crew Chief and assist with field operations including:

  • Assisting the survey crew with data collection for land, construction, and topographic surveys

  • Helping set up and operate GNSS/GPS equipment, total stations, and other survey instruments

  • Placing stakes, markers, and control points as directed

  • Assisting with field notes, measurements, and survey documentation

  • Maintaining and organizing survey equipment and vehicles

  • Clearing vegetation or obstacles where required to obtain measurements

  • Following company safety procedures and field protocols

  • Representing Millennium Geomatics professionally when interacting with coworkers, clients, and the public​

 

Survey assistants commonly support crews by helping collect measurements, operate instruments, and maintain equipment while working outdoors in varied conditions.

 

What We're Looking For:

 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Be currently enrolled in a Geomatics or Survey Technology program (SAIT, NAIT, or similar technical institution preferred)

  • Have an interest in pursuing a career in land surveying or geomatics

  • Be physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills

  • Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn

  • Be capable of lifting and carrying survey equipment

  • Possess a valid driver’s license (preferred)

 

Previous surveying experience is an asset but not required.​
